July 28: TAM Airlines, Brazil’s largest airline, has signed a firm order for 25 new Airbus aircraft consisting of 20 A320s and five A350-900s. The order follows the Memorandum of Understanding announced at the ILA Berlin Air Show in June.

It also brings TAM’s total Airbus order book to 176. The new aircraft will replace existing A320 Family aircraft as part of the airline’s commitment to keep an average fleet age of six years. “We have the commitment to offer our customers one of the youngest fleets in the world of aviation,” said Líbano Barroso, Chief Executive Officer of TAM Airlines.
